At a recent MakerBot meetup, I was interviewed by the NY Times about MakerBots and the enthusiasm for the hobbyist 3D Printing market. The article made the front page of NYTimes.com. The article is available here.

I’m on the MakerBot Blog today as part of the “We <3 The MakerBot Operators” feature. We talked about Maker Faire, 3D Printing, Open Hardware, and all sorts of things.
I’m organizing the 3D Printer Village at MakerFaire NYC on September 25th and 26th, 2010. Stop by and see what we’re working on! We should have some MakerBot, Mendels, and who knows what else. I’ll post more details when we get them.
Small writeup of making an iPhone stand from scratch. Starting in SketchUp, printing prototypes, revising, and finally printing at home on my MakerBot.
Some of my photos were used in the short film “Main Street Port Jefferson” – part of the NPR Mapping Main Street project. The film was put together by Mark Sternberg, Adam Gismondi, Ryan Hodum, and Luke Ceo, and includes some of my photos from the 2009 Charles Dickens Festival in Port Jefferson.
Last week I got a MakerBot and we’ve been playing with it for a few days now. I’ve started writing up the build process on the new Projects page. I’ll be detailing more of the printing progress as well as tuning and modifications at this same location going forward.
I’ve also written up some pages on printing RepRap Mendel parts, our MakerBot Heated Build Platform, and other modifications on the Projects page.
Today Amy and I went out with the Island Labs crew to launch a weather balloon into the stratosphere. The launch was from Roscoe, NY, and the landing was in Patterson, NY. Photos from the on-board camera are here. Photos from behind the scenes of how we did the launch are on my Flickr here. We successfully launched, tracked, and recovered a balloon that went over 90,000 feet high, and traveled almost 80 miles downrange.
I’ve been using WordPress for about six months now, and have had decent luck with it so far. I’d been using a heavily modified version of the Deep Blue theme, but decided to move to a new design. I’m now using the Neutica+ setup (which runs on Thematic) from Allan Cole. I’m still working out some bugs.
My DIY Camera Sling howto has been featured on Gizmodo, Lifehacker, Steve’s Digicams, With Closed Eyes, Reddit, DIYPhotography and a few others sites in the last few days. I’ve updated the flickr photo set with more details in the photo notes.
